The picture to the left is a dynamic weather cam picture about 35 miles West of Knolls ATV area! The image seems to refresh every half hour or so. Add this page to your favs and check here before you head out! To get to the Knolls Recreation Area travel west on I-80 towards Wendover for approx 1 hr 45 minutes, until you see the Knolls exit signs(Exit 41). The terrain at Knolls varies from small dunes to rocky trails to mud flats. It is a good area to ride in the winter because it's location in the low desert and because of the composition of the soil being composed of mostly rock and sand. It is a good alternative to many of the other areas in Utah because of it's close proximity to Salt Lake City and surrounding areas.
It can get very windy here at times, so be prepared to wind in awnings etc. at night if you are in a trailer, or be prepared to stick it out in a tent. I also had the misfortune of popping a couple tires on the sharp rocks so keep that in mind as well, and be prepared with extra tubes etc. To see our trip reports click the link below! Last time I was there the fee to get in was $6. For more current weather cams click the "weather cam" tab above.
